October 2026 Mayoral Newsletter
From the Desk of Mayor Anderton
October was a busy and rewarding month for our city, and I’m grateful to share a few highlights with you.
Learning and Leading
I attended the First Priority training conference with Clay-Chalkville High School student Christien Smith. It was wonderful to learn alongside one of our young people, and I’m proud of the future leaders we have in Clay.

I also graduated from the 2026 Municipal Leadership Institute in Mobile with Councilor Thompson. The program gave us valuable tools and ideas to bring back to our community as we continue to serve Clay!

Building Regional Partnerships
I had the pleasure of attending the Birmingham Business Alliance HBCU Classic Breakfast with fellow mayors Tracie Threadford, Jennifer Andress, Yolanda Lawson, and Terry Adams. Connecting with leaders across our region helps strengthen Clay’s voice and opportunities.

Clay Fall Fest 🎃
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Fall Fest. With games, candy, and so much fun, it was wonderful to see our neighbors come together. If you attended, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Please take our Fall Fest survey.

Around Town
New Welcome to Clay signs have been installed around town by our Public Works team, as well as our beautiful Hometown Heroes banners, and I hope you’ll feel the same pride I do when you see them!
Our new website is also live at cityofclayal.gov. Please bookmark this new address.
Upcoming: Veterans Day Luncheon 🇺🇸
I invite our veterans and a guest to join us for a luncheon celebration in your honor.
📅 Wednesday, November 11
🕥 10:30 AM
📍 Grace Klein Community Center, 5271 Old Springville Road, Pinson AL 35126
We also need volunteers to help make the day special. If you’d like to attend or lend a hand, please click here.
And don't forget about the upcoming City Council Meetings on November 10 and 17 beginning at 6PM! (Please note the date changes due to Thanksgiving 🦃)
Thank you for the honor of serving as your mayor.
